Commission for a very proud grandma

Monday, April 12th, 2010

About a month ago I was approached to make a pillbox for a 90 year old lady to wear to her grand daughters wedding in this month. She wanted it to match her out fit but be inpsired by the hat she wore when her grand daughter was christened.

Here is what i came up with, her daughter came to collect it and was very pleased with it. Fingers crossed the sunshines for the wedding on the 24th April.

My daughters wants

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

So there is a down side to working from home whilst looking after my 3 year old daughter Amelia, in that she is very adamant that i make her one of what every i happen to making at the time – when i agree she will then specify the details colour, decorations etc. I have been working on a bridal piece so had a small block out and she decided she needed a little percher which had to be pink and have a bow on it, so i spent time making this creation only for her to come in when it was finished and announce she couldn’t possibly wear it if it didn’t have butterflies on. Luckily I had a few spare around so added them and it is now her favourite thing which she wears at every possible occasion.

Market @Castle Howard

So the market at Castle howard last weekend was a bit if a wash out, as the wind whistling around the courtyard kept creating some kind of vortex which would then lift all the hats off the table at the same time. The setting was beautiful had it not been for the weather, it did pick up in the afternoon and the peacocks who ventured out to see us were beautiful and noisy.

Meet some great stall holders with some really beautiful stuff, will grab all the details and post them on here later

So two days and counting, today i have been making felt poppies for corsages, as well as for a competition to design poppies for rememberance day aimed at 16-25 year olds. They all have either sparkly button detail in the centre or beading details.

So it is 5 days till i need to be all ready for the Artsmix fair at Castle Howard near York, I have most of my hats ready and am just making a few bits to sell on the side – smaller headpieces and some leather handbags and purses. Today i have been sewing some of the handbags on the machine, it is fun as all the leather is different thicknesses with them all being off cuts and odd bits. Here is one i have finished, will upload some others when they are done.80’s inspired distressed clutch bag
